Savoury glutinous rice dumplings

This wonderfully presented dish is actually not that difficult to make. The glutinous rice gives a chewy texture, which gives an interesting contrast to its pork fillings.

Ingredient and Portion
minced pork 500g
glutinous rice 1 1/2cup
light soya sauce 5tbsp
sugar 2tsp
cornstarch 2tsp combined with 2tbso of water
green onions 2stalks, diced
water chestnuts 5 pcs, diced (OPTIONAL)
Method
Soak glutinous rice in water for 4 hours, wash and drain, then combine with 1 tbsp of light soya sauce.
Mince pork and place in large bowl, combine with 4 tbsp light soya sauce, sugar, cornstarch, green onions and water chestnuts. Stir until well combined.
Shape meat into balls of desired size, lightly roll pork balls over glutinous rice to coat evenly. Place balls on plate, and steam for 30 minutes, then serve.
Tips
(一)豬肉要選皮薄紋細嫩的,以脊肉之肉質最嫩,用來炒肉片、肉絲剁肉最適宜。
(二)可放一小片芫荽在每個肉圓上作裝飾。

預備時間:如在早一晚浸糯,米次日只需10 分鐘預備。
